Azerbaijani fencer Anna Bashta won a license to the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Bashta became the winner of the European qualification tournament held in Madrid (Spain), which she won a license for the Olympic Games for the first time in her career.
In the group stage of the tournament, the Azerbaijani athlete gained three victories in six fights, and in the play-offs on the way to the final she defeated fencers from Spain (15:14), Georgia (15:10) and Poland (15 :11). In the final of women sabre, Bashta won against fencer from Germany Anna Limbach with a score of 15:13.
